The benefits of digital signage in the workplace are well documented. From dynamic leader boards or motivational quotes, to emergency communication and employee announcements, there is no question that digital signage can improve communication, increase moral and impact productivity.

Company culture can create a positive work environment, but by creating a work environment that stimulates creativity, companies can inspire the organization to be its best. Not only does art have the ability to do this, but it can impress your customers, clients or office guests, it can increase employee morale by creating a positive and efficient atmosphere and even just a splash of the right color can uplift the entire office.

The impact of art is often underestimated.  Research by Exeter University’s School of Psychology found that employees working in enriched spaces (decorated with art or plants) were 17% more productive than those in lean spaces.  According to professors Dr. Craig Knight and Dr. S. Alexander Haslam, in an office with art, employees worked approximately 15% faster.

Further, a survey conducted by the Business Committee for the Arts and the International Association of Professional Art Advisors confirm that art displayed in the workspace enhanced the work environment (94%), contributed to reduced stress (78%), increased creativity and productivity (64%), and 67% said that it enhanced morale. Clearly the investment in art and design demonstrates a good potential return on investment.

Art in the workplace doesn’t have to be expensive

Most of the companies we work with don’t have a dedicated art budget to invest in original works of the great masters. And for companies with limited wall space, the choice between art and digital signage doesn’t have to be mutually exclusive. New technology is allowing companies to have both functional digital signage and cost-effective works of art that enhance their office space.  ne example is the BandStream DTS Media Player. With the DTS, companies can change the messages or images on their digital sign or TV from a computer, tablet or even a smart phone in real time. Changing art pieces is as easy as uploading an image to the media player and takes just moments.
