One-on-one business matchmaking sessions with federal buyers, prime contractors and other contracting entities are a key part of a government contracting symposium taking place October 11 at the South Towne Expo Center in Sandy. The 12th annual symposium will also offer a preview of small business opportunities tied to some very large projects. If you’re looking to connect with the local aerospace and defense industry, the Salt Lake International Airport renovation or opportunities with the State of Utah, this is an event you don’t want to miss.

Organized under the Governor’s Office of Economic Development Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (PTAC) program, the sole purpose of the symposium is to connect small business. Why? Because of government mandates to give small businesses a slice of the pie. The large primes are obligated to find small business partners and bid together to capture the work.

Around 50 exhibitors will be on site for networking and 15-minute matchmaking sessions. You can register for those same-day or in advance. A full agenda listing presenters, breakout sessions and exhibitors is available through the symposium app. Registration is $75 and can be handled through the app, too.

As always, PTAC representatives are happy to walk you through every step of the government contracting process. Be sure to check them out at http://business.utah.gov/programs/ptac/about-ptac/.
