Ogden, UT– The inaugural TEDxOgden will take place in the beautiful, historic Peery’s Egyptian Theater on Friday, June 16 from 5-10 p.m. The event brings together entrepreneurs, social media influencers, artists, and outdoor enthusiasts with an ‘idea worth spreading’ under the theme ‘Untamed’.

Designed to showcase the ideas and talents of the Ogden community, this event will have performances from nine local artists and four local speakers. Speakers like Batman movie producer Michael Uslan, social media influencer Shaun McBride, aka Shonduras, local entrepreneur Amir Jackson and local community advocate Paige Pitcher will be on the Peery’s Egyptian Theater stage.

“The speakers for TEDxOgden were handpicked for their inspired thinking and passion to share some of their experiences with others” said organizer Sydnie Furton. “Each speaker has been challenged to give a powerful talk that will inspire the crowed in 18 minutes or less. The diversity of the speakers and the message they have to give will make for a memorable and powerful evening.”

Limited tickets are still on sale to watch the event from the stage and can be purchased at www.smithtix.com or at the theater’s box office. The public is invited to watch a free live screening of the event in the Rehearsal Hall on the south side of Peery’s Egyptian Theater. Additionally, there will be pre/post-event entertainment in the courtyard connected to the south side of the theater that will include food available for purchase from Lucky Slice Pizza and Warren’s Craft Burger, live music and cash bars. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)

About TED TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or fewer) delivered by today's leading thinkers and doers. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Monica Lewinsky, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala,Sal Khan and Daniel Kahneman.

TED's open and free initiatives for spreading ideas include TED.com, where new TED Talk videos are posted daily; the Open Translation Project, which provides subtitles and interactive transcripts as well as translations from thousands of volunteers worldwide; the educational initiative TED-Ed; the annual million-dollar TED Prize, which funds exceptional individuals with a "wish," or idea, to create change in the world; TEDx, which provides licenses to thousands of individuals and groups who host local, self-organized TED-style events around the world; and the TED Fellows program, which selects innovators from around the globe to amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities.
