On March 27, Wells Fargo became the first large bank in the US to launch an entire fleet of card-free ATMs, providing customers the ability to log in with a code instead of a physical card. Wells Fargo customers may walk up to any one of the bank’s 13,000 ATMs, enter an 8-digit code and ATM PIN, and proceed with a transaction. To retrieve a code, the customer logs into the Wells Fargo mobile app and requests a one-time access code.

This new experience provides Wells Fargo customers another convenient option to manage money and access cash. Mobile banking is the company’s fastest growing channel, reaching a milestone of more than 20 million active customers in March, and was recently awarded first place on the biannual Keynote Mobile Banking Scorecard, citing the bank’s leadership in digital functionality and mobile app experiences.
