Weber State University’s Richard Richards Institute for Ethics will recognize Andre Lortz, the chief financial officer for Maverik, as the winner of the institute’s Ethical Leadership Award. The award will be presented at the Ogden-Weber Chamber of Commerce breakfast at the Megaplex theater in The Junction (2351 Kiesel Ave., Ogden) on Nov. 17 from 7:30-9 a.m.

"The Richards Institute's Ethical Leadership Award was created to identify and recognize ethical leaders in our communities who often go unnoticed,” said Nathan Clark, advisory board member for the institute. “The board is pleased to recognize Andre Lortz for his professional leadership as a chief financial officer and his extensive volunteer service on several boards and committees in the Ogden and surrounding areas advancing education, technology and jobs."

Lortz joined Maverik as their CFO in 2014. He is responsible for the company’s financial reporting, data analytics, internal audit, loss prevention, planning and treasury functions. Prior to joining Maverik, Lortz was the CFO for FJ Management, Maverik’s parent company. He has also served as the CFO for Big West Oil.

Lortz graduated from WSU with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and a Master of Professional Accounting. He currently serves on WSU’s Alumni Association board of directors and on the advisory board of the School of Accounting.

The Richard Richards Institute for Ethics, housed in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, was established in 2007 to teach and inspire ethical leadership in all disciplines. Its goal is to create greater awareness about political decency as well as educate and prepare future generations to make ethical decisions.
