Alan E. Hall is a serial entrepreneur, angel investor, community advocate, professor and philanthropist.
Mr. Hall is the founder, chairman and former CEO of MarketStar Corporation, a global out sourced marketing and sales company with a focus on assisting high technology companies increase sales through the small to medium business sectors. The company, established in 1988, employees several thousand employees and generates billions of dollars in sales for its marquee clientele, including Hewlett Packard, Cisco, Sony, Intel, Verizon and Google. MarketStar is owned by Omnicom Group (OMC).
He is co-founder and former managing director of Mercato Partners, a top decile growth equity venture capital fund.
Mr. Hall is also the founder and chairman of Grow Utah, a not for profit entity with a mission of stimulating economic development through entrepreneurship.
He is a prolific Angel investor and has numerous personal investments in growing Utah companies.
Alan is the past chairman of the Utah Technology Council, Prosperity 2020 and the immediate past chairman of Weber State University’s board of trustees. He also served as the national chairman of the University’s capital campaign committee. After eight years of effort, the University recently announced it had raised $165 million. A major contributor to the University, the Alan and Jeanne Hall Foundation has endowed the Hall Sales Center of Excellence, the Hall Global Entrepreneurship program and most recently he and his wife were the lead contributors of the new Tracy Hall Science Center.
He is an Ernst and Young and Mountain West Capital Network Entrepreneur of Year award recipient. He is a frequent speaker, author of three e-books on entrepreneurship, and a columnist for Forbes and Harvard Business Review.
Mr. Hall graduated from Weber State in 1969 with a degree in psychology. He earned an MBA from Brigham Young University in 1972. He is a recipient of an Honorary Doctor of Humanities degree from Weber State University. He is currently an adjunct professor in the Goddard School of Business at Weber State where he teaches professional sales classes to MBA students.
He and his wife Jeanne are the chairman and president of the Hall Foundation. The mission of the foundation is that “There be no poor among us.” He and Jeanne sit on numerous community non profit boards of trustees and financially support thirty area charities.
Alan and Jeanne Hall are the parents of six married children and eighteen grandchildren.
